Position Title GIS Specialist II

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented GIS Specialist II for immediate employment in the Germantown, MD office.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Assists with mapping activities related to transportation, environment, water resources, and GIS-related projects typically for Federal and municipal clients
Conducts map production tasks with potential to work on a wide range of projects that vary in complexity and clientele
Performs GIS analysis and map production for a wide variety of projects
Responsible for database administration and design using both geospatial and non-spatial data
Proactively evaluates optimal and efficient solutions to geospatial problems on projects
Respnsible for computer modeling and GIS work related to existing standards and guidelines
Bachelor's degree in Geography or a related field
4+ years of experience
Knowledge of Esri ArcGIS (10.x) as well as the 3D Analyst and Spatial Analyst extensions
Demonstrable experience with scripting languages (e.g., python and R) for developing automated workflows and models
Develop script and model user documentation
Understanding of Hydraulic and Hydrologic modelling techniques and methods
Knowledge of cadastral, address points, building footprints, or related local government developed vector data
Experience with geocoding large data sets
Familiarity with GIS data management and data transformation implementations (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and FME) for spatial and non-spatial applications including managing data; defining database file descriptors; structuring, building, merging, and documenting database files; transferring database files to a variety of formats and media and archive
Ability to manage ArcSDE (Spatial Database Engine) and publish web services
Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop for imagery correction
Excellent professional and organizational skills
Good written and verbal communication skills
Proficient research skills to identify and locate data from the best available source
Good problem solving skills
Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required
Master’s Degree in Geography or a related field
Ability to perform a full range of image processing tasks (e.g. orthorectification; supervised, unsupervised, and hybrid classification) utilizing software such as ArcGIS, and imagery of varying spatial, spectral, radiometric, and temporal resolutions including panchromatic, multi-spectral, or other raster data. Raster data may include commercial satellite imagery, airborne imagery, sUAS (small unmanned aerial systems), or ground photography. Develop training samples and perform automated image feature extraction using software such as Textron Overwatch’s Feature Analyst
Python coding knowledge preferred
