AECOM Geotechnical Project Manager in Germantown, Maryland

United States of America - Maryland, Germantown

Job Summary

The Water Business Unit of AECOM is actively seeking a proactive Senior Geotechnical Engineer. This position is located in our Germantown, MD office in the DC Metro Area.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

  • Managing geotechnical tasks and working closely with other disciplines to meet the project needs

  • Oversight and management of a variety of subsurface investigation programs.

  • Adhere to AECOM safety culture and maintaining safe work environment

  • Managing geotechnical laboratory testing programs for large geotechnical projects

  • Performing design calculations for pavements, shallow and deep foundation, tunnel components, and retaining walls, temporary and permanent support of excavation, dams and impoundments

  • Perform settlement analysis, ground improvement analyses , slope stability analyses, seepage analyses

  • Prepare of engineering reports and memoranda

  • Managing construction administration phases of the project.

  • Potential for international travel

Minimum Requirements

  • MS degree in Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited US School

  • Licensed Professional Engineer

  • 10-15 years of experience with geotechnical design and construction

  • Thorough understanding of the concepts of soil mechanics and rock mechanics

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience managing geotechnical projects larger than $25,000.

  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams remotely located within AECOM

  • Ability to travel for 1 to 2 weeks domestically and internationally

  • Experience and willingness to mentor junior staff

  • Experience in preparing cost and qualification based proposals for private and government clients

  • Experience with underground construction, shallow and deep foundations, slope stability

  • Experience with gINT, Geostudio, Plaxis, Flac and other design software

  • Must be a US Citizen

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Geotechnical Engineering

  • Experience with working on international projects at US military installations

  • Ability to obtain security clearance

  • Willingness to represent AECOM at professional organization

  • Interest in business development
