AECOM Electrical Engineer III in Germantown, Maryland

United States of America - Virginia, Arlington - VA

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a highly talented and creative Electrical Engineer III to support multiple client projects from our Arlington, VA offices. This position may have the opportunity to be based from the Germantown, MD or other

DC area AECOM offices in the future.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Developing electrical systems design in Revit

  • Developing electrical systems specifications

  • Performing electrical studies in ETAP and SKM

  • Performing lighting calculations using AGi32

  • Reviewing vendor shop drawings

  • Preparing cable sizing calculations and raceway design

  • Performing site survives and prepare assessment reports

  • Regional expert on providing technical leadership and guidance in a specialty, providing strategic planning to increase our profitability within area of expertise.

  • Keeps informed of new developments and requirements affecting the organization for the purpose of recommending changes in programs and applications.

  • Uses creativity, foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented technical problems. Interprets, organizes, executes and coordinates assignments.

  • Makes decisions independently on technical problems and methods, and represents the organization in conferences to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate work.

  • Develops standards and guidelines for use throughout the company. The knowledge and expertise required for this level of work usually results from progressive experience.

  • Supervision received is essentially administrative, with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.

Level specific responsibilities:

  • Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.

  • Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.

  • Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.

  • Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignments.

  • Identifies discrepancies in results.

  • Provides guidance to entry level engineers.

  • Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.

  • Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.

  • Performance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional position.

Minimum Requirements

BA/BS and 4 years of relevant electrical engineering design experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • EIT is strongly preferred

  • PE is a plus

  • Knowledge/experience with CAD programs including Revit, as well as ETAP/SKM is preferred

  • Experience with data center projects is a plus

  • Experience with medium voltage systems is a plus
