AECOM Civil Engineering Department Leader - Water Business Line in Fresno, California

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented Senior Supervising Civil Water Engineer in Fresno, CA with experience in water resources projects including pump stations, wellhead treatment, dams, levees, flood control facilities, pipelines, cutoff walls, and earthmoving projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in water resources projects including pump stations, wellhead treatment, dams, levees, flood control facilities, pipelines, cutoff walls, and earthmoving projects.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Lead teams of engineers, and support staff during the execution of design and construction projects

  • Manage cost and schedule for assigned projects

  • Oversee and be responsible for timely and accurate invoicing and billing, change orders, and project closeout

  • Manage and ensure work is performed safely, efficiently and with quality

  • Clearly communicate with staff and with clients

  • Oversee subcontractors and vendors to ensure quality

  • Prepare technical & commercial bid documents

  • Develop project execution procedures and work breakdown structure

  • Manage relationships with clients, stakeholders, local agencies, designers, inspectors and subcontractors to ensure successful construction completion

  • Work with designers and drafting staff to develop conceptual to as-built drawings

  • Design will be about 50% of the responsibility and will include various CAD related programs to assist with the design as well as some modeling software.

  • Also some accounting programs used by AECOM. Will need to coordinate with other disciplines including electrical, mechanical and controls/instrumentation, structural and architectural.

  • Serves as lead engineer on mid to large size projects.

  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.

  • Approves and signs off on work.

  • Provides technical expertise for studies and design efforts.

  • Presents complex technical solutions to clients.

  • Performs quality control reviews of work developed by others.

  • Participates in development of technical proposals.

  • Provides estimates for the engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements on large projects.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree plus at least 10-15 years’ experience with management and design of water/wastewater projects and construction phase services experience preferably in California, registration in California as a Civil Engineer

  • Experience managing and training staff in a consulting capacity, experience with proposal preparation including estimating project cost, budgeting and project accounting for a private company on large to medium size projects, good communication and writing skills.

  • Experience in the planning, design, and construction of water resources projects including pump stations, dams, levees, flood control facilities, pipelines, cutoff walls, and earthmoving projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in California

  • Local Central Valley projects with Municipal and/or Industrial project experience
