Position Title Site Safety Officer

The Environment Business Unit of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Site Safety Officer for immediate employment in the Freeport, Texas office. The position is responsible for overseeing Safety, Health & Environment activities and initiatives for the AECOM Freeport office including rewards and recognition, SH&E awareness communications, SH&E shared learning, safety messages and other special assignments. The ideal candidate for the Site Safety Officer position can look forward to responsibilities that include but are not limited to:
Coordinate SH&E activities and initiatives.
Provide input to health and safety plans.
Support OSHA and client requirements for recordkeeping.
Provide guidance to employees within the latitude of established policies.
Perform quality control reviews of risk management tools such as JSAs, STAC, THAs, etc.
Develop and leads monthly staff safety meetings.
Serve as the site Respiratory Program Administrator.
Manage the site Hazard Communication Program.
Perform site audits and ergonomic assessments.
Assist in developing Site Lessons Learned for review and publication.
Assist in Incident Investigations and Root Cause Analysis.
Serve as the designated Contract Safety Representative to the Client.
Assist in managing the Safety rewards and recognition program.
Track key performance indicators and milestones
Assist with Management of Change.
Assist in the kick off of large projects.
May assist in field sampling work activities as assigned
High School plus 1 year of experience as an Environmental Technician performing multi-media sampling in a petro chemical environment. Must have 1 year knowledge and experience in every aspect of SH&E Regulatory Compliance performing audits, inspections, evaluation, training and risk assessment. CSSS certified, HAZWOPER certified. Current TWIC.
Ability to perform bending, kneeling, standing, confined-space entry, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and have a tolerance for working in outdoor environments, including prolonged walking or standing on various terrain in a wide range of weather conditions
Ability to wear an air-purifying respirator, as required by OSHA Standards.
Requires enrollment in the medical monitoring program requiring initial and annual physical
Must be a quick learner and able to grasp scientific concepts and apply them to different technical challenges
Must be a self-starter and motivated in producing high-quality results for clients
Must be able to effectively work in a team environment
Must be able to work in field assignments, such as refineries and chemical plants
Must possess problem-solving skills and have a general mechanical aptitude
Ability to communicate verbally and in written form to impart technical information and interact with clients and regulatory personnel.
Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple requests and prioritize client requests within time sensitive deadlines.
Effective time management and analytical skills.
Qualified applicants who are offered a position are required to pass a pre-employment substance abuse test.
Must possess valid Driver’s license
Due to nature and location of work, United States Citizenship is required.
AAS in Occupational Safety and Health Management. BCSP certified OHST (occupational health and safety technician).
Experience in Safety, work permitting, tracking key performance indicators, and data management.
Must have a demonstrated commitment to safety and a willingness to lead safety by example.
