Position Title Senior Air Quality Emissions Specialist

The Environment Business Unit of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented experienced Technician for immediate employment in the Freeport, Texas office. The appropriately qualified applicant will apply their knowledge and experience in the Air Quality Department, specific to Source Testing. The Freeport Testing group operates as part of the AECOM Source Testing group. The AECOM Source Testing group is a nationally recognized air quality consulting team that provides stack testing services to clients, both nationally and internationally. The incumbent can look forward to projects including emissions compliance testing, research and design, and technical data reporting.
Perform Methods 1 through 5 and 18 (40 CFR Part 60)
Support performance of Relative Accuracy Test Audits (RATA) for continuous emissions monitoring systems, testing for demonstration of compliance, testing for establishing operating limits, testing of flares, etc.
Conduct special air monitoring assignments as needed
Plan and execute work assignments with limited instructions
Interact independently with client and regulatory personnel on routine tasks
Assist incineration plant operations and maintenance person as needed
Initiate changes to procedures and will support the implementation of procedures
Contribute positively to health, safety, environmental and quality programs by performing work safely and adhering to all safety standards and protocols
Provide superior customer service by performing task on time and within budget
Maintain open lines of communication with office management and staff
Collaborate and work as part of a team of scientists that provide air quality testing services
Calibrate, maintain, and operate air monitoring instrumentation and equipment
Maintain electronic and hardcopy records in an organized manner
Collect, organize, and prepare data for reporting
Provide technical assistance to other departments on a project specific basis
Continually upgrade technical knowledge and capabilities
High school diploma or equivalent
5+ years of experience in a related field technician position. A related two-year college degree may substitute for two years of the required experience. A Bachelor's degree in a related field may substitute for four years of the experience or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, skills, knowledge, abilities and experience
Advanced understanding of the equipment and technology used to gather samples and information from the field
Verbal and written communication skills; able to interface directly with project stakeholders
Organization skills, attention to detail in recording field data
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software to create reports
Ability to perform bending, kneeling, standing, confined-space entry, lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and have a tolerance for working in outdoor environments, including prolonged walking or standing on various terrain in a wide range of weather conditions
Ability to wear an air-purifying respirator, as required by OSHA Standards
Requires enrollment in the medical monitoring program requiring initial and annual physicals
Must be a quick learner and able to grasp scientific concepts and apply them to different technical challenges
Must be a self-starter and motivated in producing high-quality results for clients
Must be able to effectively work in a team environment
Must be able to work in field assignments, such as refineries and chemical plants
Must possess problem-solving skills and have a general mechanical aptitude
Must pass a pre-employment substance abuse test and random drug screens
Must possess valid Driver’s license
Due to nature and location of work, United States Citizenship is required
Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science or related field
Experience in a Chemical plant
Experience in source emissions testing
40-hr, or 8-hr refresher, HAZWOPER training
TWIC card holder
Basic Plus training
