Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a Transportation Engineer for employment in the Dallas or Fort Worth, TX office.

Under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer:

  • Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.

  • Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives

  • Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids

  • Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member

  • Applying knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices for assigned transportation design projects

  • Assisting a project manager or senior engineer with task production including preparing engineering related calculations, drawings, and visual aids

  • Assisting in maintaining project documentation

  • Producing high quality plans and effective in communicating the design concept to the contractor

Transportation design including but not limited to:

  • Geometric design of highways

  • Storm and Culvert Drainage design

  • Hydrologic & Hydraulic Studies

  • Erosion Control

  • Plan preparation

  • Cost estimating

  • Report writing

  • Traffic Engineering

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Transportation engineering

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Transportation Engineering

  • Strong knowledge of MS Office including Excel, Word and standard office software

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position such as, AutoCAD, Micro Station, HEC-RAS, Geopak, HY-8, and/or HEC-HMS

  • Be organized and detail-oriented

  • Willingness to travel (if and when required)

  • Must possess a valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred

  • Master's degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering

  • Advanced knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position such as, AutoCAD, Micro Station, HEC-RAS, Gopal, HY-8

  • Experience with TxDOT Schematic and PS&E projects

  • Familiarity with Open Roads Roadway Design software
