AECOM Civil Engineer III in Fort Myers, Florida

AECOM has an immediate need for a Project Engineer in our Fort Myers, Fl office. This office offers a mix of direct design and client-facing work. The Project Engineer will have the opportunity to mentor junior staff, while working on a combination of local and regional projects with a variety of scopes and applications. With an emphasis on water/wastewater conveyance and pumping system design.
You will work on projects from the planning through permitting and construction phases, including alternative delivery projects. Other responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.
Identifies discrepancies in results.
Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental Engineering or related discipline
5+ years of experience in municipal water/wastewater conveyance and pumping engineering and design
Must be a licensed Professional Engineer in Florida or able to obtain within 6 months.
Must have project engineer experience with some experience managing projects or components of projects
Must have strong technical engineering expertise in water or wastewater treatment conveyance design
Must have demonstrated time management skills, work ethic, and attention to detail
Must have the ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with technicians, designers, engineers and project managers for the preparation of high quality work products
Must have the ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with clients, regulatory agency representatives and members of the public when required to represent the company
Must have a valid driver's license
Must have strong communication skills in coordinating with clients, sub-consultants, regulatory agencies, and members of the public may be necessary to accomplish assigned objectives.
Occasional business travel of one to two days per month may be required
Must have a sound foundation in the planning, permitting, and design of water and wastewater conveyance projects
Candidate must have proven excellent leadership skills, and demonstrated ability to successfully work in diverse teams
Experience in preparation of engineering proposals for submission to clients
Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3-D software
Must have demonstrated successful client relationship skills as a project engineer and be capable of assisting senior staff in growing and securing business opportunities
