AECOM Millwright Journeyman in Fort McMurray, Alberta

Job Summary

AECOM is hiring Millwright Journeyman to join our SUNCOR Firebag project team on site near Fort McMurray, Alberta, for the Fall 2021 Turnaround in late July and August.

Additional Details

  • Start Dates: July 21st onwards

  • Approximate Duration: 4 to 6 weeks

  • Shift Schedule: 6 days on, 1 day off

  • Location: 120 km northeast of Fort McMurray, Alberta

  • Travel: Charter flights provided from Calgary and Edmonton

  • Accommodation: Camp accommodation will be provided to all workers

  • Overtime Eligibility: All craft will be eligible for overtime

  • CLAC Union agreement in place; with competitive rates

Millwrights install, maintain, repair and troubleshoot stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment in sites such as factories, production plants and recreational facilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Read diagrams and schematic drawings and service manuals to determine work procedures

  • Operate rigging equipment and dollies to place heavy machinery and parts

  • Fit bearings, align gears and shafts, attach motors, and connect couplings and belts to precise tolerances

  • Align and test equipment, and make any necessary adjustments

  • Perform predictive and operational procedures

  • Repair or replace defective parts

  • Service and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems

  • May do some tack welding (a weld that is adequate in size to temporarily hold components in place until it can be completely welded by a registered apprentice welder or a journeyman welder) and fabrication as well as maintain an inventory of replacement parts

Conditions of Employment for this position are:

  1. For positions that fall into the list of required positions within the AECOM Oil & Gas Background Check policy, qualified applicants who are offered, and accept, the role must complete a satisfactory pre-employment Background Check. This may consist of all or a combination of the following: Canadian Criminal Record check, an Employment Verification and/or an Education and Accreditation Verification.

  2. For positions that fall into the list of required positions within the AECOM Oil & Gas Alcohol & Drug (A&D) policy, qualified applicants who are offered, and accept, a position must provide evidence of a satisfactory Alcohol & Drug test in accordance with the Company's Alcohol & Drug Policy. In order to be valid, the test must have been conducted at the direction of AECOM - O&G Business Unit.

Minimum Requirements

  • Provincial Journeyman or Red Seal Certification

  • Previous Maintenance Services experience (e.g. Steady state, Turnaround, Shutdown, Outage, etc.)

  • Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS-09 or 2020) Certification

  • OSSA Basic Safety Orientation or Enform Common Safety Orientation

  • H2S Alive

  • First Aid – Standard Level Certification

  • OSSA Aerial Work Platform

  • OSSA Fall Arrest/Fall Protection

  • OSSA Confined Space

  • Other safety ticket(s) and orientation(s) required, as per the project team

  • Driver’s License and a clean 5 Year Driver's Abstract
