Job Summary

AECOM is hiring a Millwright Apprentice to join our SUNCOR Fort Hills Maintenance team on site near Fort McMurray, Alberta. This is a full-time position on a 7/7 shift schedule.

Millwrights install, maintain, repair and troubleshoot stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment in sites such as factories, production plants and recreational facilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate function, application and operation of hydraulic valves

  • Describe operating principles, maintenance and applications of hydraulic pumps and actuators Demonstrate maintenance and troubleshooting of hydraulic systems

  • Demonstrate pneumatic systems and perform hydraulic calculations

  • Describe principles, components and maintenance of screw compressors and lobe blowers

  • Describe principles, components and maintenance procedures for vane compressors

  • Describe principles, components and maintenance of centrifugal and axial flow compressors

  • Describe principles, components and maintenance for gas and air dryers and accessories

  • Describe operation, maintenance and safety related to industrial refrigeration systems

  • Demonstrate laser equipment to align machine shafts

  • Describe principles of electricity and electromagnetism

  • Describe electrical principles and applications

  • Describe basic PLC applications and troubleshooting

Conditions of Employment for this position are:

  1. For positions that fall into the list of required positions within the AECOM Oil & Gas Background Check policy, qualified applicants who are offered, and accept, the role must complete a satisfactory pre-employment Background Check. This may consist of all or a combination of the following: Canadian Criminal Record check, an Employment Verification and/or an Education and Accreditation Verification.

  2. For positions that fall into the list of required positions within the AECOM Oil & Gas Alcohol & Drug (A&D) policy, qualified applicants who are offered, and accept, a position must provide evidence of a satisfactory Alcohol & Drug test in accordance with the Company's Alcohol & Drug Policy. In order to be valid, the test must have been conducted at the direction of AECOM - O&G Business Unit.

Minimum Requirements

  • Current Registered Trade Apprentice 3rd Year or 4th Year

  • Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS-09 or 2020) Certification

  • Common Safety Orientation (CSO) or Basic Safety Orientation (BSO)

  • OSSA or Energy Safety Canada Certified Aerial Work Platform

  • OSSA or Energy Safety Canada Certified Fall Arrest and/or Fall Protection

  • OSSA or Energy Safety Canada Certified Confined Space

  • Overhead Crane and Rigging

  • Fit Test

  • Other safety ticket(s) and orientation(s) required, as per the project team

  • Driver’s License and a clean 5 year Driver’s Abstract
