AECOM is currently seeking a Hand Welder, B-Pressure to join our SUNCOR Firebag project team on site near Fort McMurray, Alberta. This is a Full-Time position on a 14/14 shift rotation unless otherwise specified.

Approximate duration: Permanent/Full-Time
Location: 120 km northeast of Fort McMurray, Alberta
Travel: Charter flights provided from Calgary and Edmonton
Accommodation: Camp accommodation will be provided to all workers

Welders join or sever metals in beams, girders, vessels, piping and other metal components, make metal parts used in construction and manufacturing plants, and weld parts, tools, machines and equipment. Welders develop patterns for projects or follow directions given in layouts, blueprints and work orders, as well as clean, check for defects and shape component parts, sometimes using a cutting torch and welding parts together.
Hand Welders will be expected to do but are not limited to the following tasks:
Be skillful in the fusing of metals using prescribed welding applications
Have working knowledge of the welding equipment involved with the various welding procedures
Comprehend drawings and develop layout patterns for projects and calculate quantities of materials
Have thorough knowledge of metals, arc electrodes, welding gases and gas welding filler rods
Recognize defective welds; know the cause and proper procedure for the repair of the defective area
Have working knowledge of mathematics calculations pertaining to the welding trade
Have working knowledge of the required codes
Be familiar with the work of other trades people in affiliated trades
Perform assigned tasks in accordance with quality and production standards required by industry

For positions that fall into the list of required positions within the AECOM Oil & Gas Alcohol & Drug (A&D) policy, qualified applicants who are offered, and accept, a position must provide evidence of a satisfactory Alcohol & Drug test in accordance with the Company's Alcohol & Drug Policy. In order to be valid, the test must have been conducted at the direction of AECOM - O&G Business Unit.
Journeyman Certification and/or Interprovincial Red Seal
Previous Maintenance Services experience required (e.g. Steady state, Turnaround, Shutdown, Outage, etc.)
Alberta B-Pressure ticket or equivalent if from another province
Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS-09 or 2020) Certification
H2S Alive ticket
First aid ticket
Fall Arrest/ Fall Protection ticket
Confined Space ticket
Other safety ticket(s) and orientation(s) required, as per the project team
Valid Class Class 5 driver’s license and a 3 years clean driver’s abstract
Welding tickets and/or welder performance qualification testing required - as per AECOM Performance Qualification testing of welders guideline :
AECOM-1: F3/F4 Carbon Steel, SMAW/SMAW
AECOM-3: F6/F5 Stainless Steel, GTAW/SMAW
AECOM-6: F6 Carbon GTAW All the way
AECOM-8: F4X/F4X Inconel GTAW/SMAW
CWB-1: Mode: Manual, Class: F/H/Vu/O, Material: CS, Process: SMAW, Classification: S Electrode:F4
Red Seal preferred or required by provincial regulations and standards
