Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a General Foreman to be based at our IOL Kearl Oil Sands location in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

This position will assist in the coordination and planning of projects in a particular maintenance area. This position monitors contractors, trades performance, progress, and productivity. They ensure everything complies with drawings and specifications.

May include the following responsibilities:

  • Under general supervision, monitors routine duties for a single maintenance discipline or a functional area consisting of several disciplines.

  • Provides second level supervision of craft personnel.

  • Supervises and directs the activities of foremen.

  • Ensures that workers are adequately supplied with direction, materials and equipment.

  • Maintains records and time sheets.

  • Utilized on international projects or industrial operations when this level is not covered by an hourly collective bargaining agreement.

  • Responsible for work procedures, scheduling, cost control, project specification conformity,

  • establishment of manpower levels, monitoring and implementation of safety programs, project conformance to national, local and/or company building codes and the maintenance of accurate records.

  • Responsible for the satisfactory conduct of all maintenance operations and task accomplishment in an economical, efficient and timely manner on a project.

  • Monitors craft performance relative to budget, schedules and deadlines.

  • Monitors manpower utilization, effectiveness and productivity.

  • Facilitates the efficient use of personnel and equipment.

  • Implements and enforces work rules.

  • Coordinates movement and use of equipment and supplies with Material Management.

  • Requisitions tools, materials and equipment in accordance with established procedures and necessary lead times.

  • Prepares and reviews plans, specifications, drawings and schedules to determine work phases and work priorities.

  • Inspects fieldwork to evaluate progress, efficiency of operation and cost control.

  • Responsible for overall project workmanship and goal attainment.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent.

  • 2 years experience in the construction industry, including experience as a foreman.

  • This position will be required to drive a vehicle on behalf of AECOM and therefore will require the candidate to submit a satisfactory driver's abstract for review.

  • Construction Safety Training System (CSTS) Certification required.

  • Fall Arrest and/or Fall Protection (OSSA issued ticket) Certification.

  • First Aid - Standard Level.

  • H2S Alive Certification.

  • AWP – Aerial Work Platform.
