Job Summary

Performs systems maintenance and operations. Applies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems by interpreting manufacturer’s manuals or similar documents.

As technician/operator, applies technical knowledge in troubleshooting, isolating malfunctions, repairing to the component level, and incorporating engineering changes. Work typically requires understanding of the interrelationships of analog, digital, mechanical, and RF operating system diagnostics and circuits. Makes circuit analyses, calculates waveforms, and traces relationships in signal flow. Uses complex test instruments such as pulse generators, spectrum analyzers, distortion analyzers, computer analytical equipment. Provides technical guidance to lower level technicians.

Performs organizational and intermediate, and depot-level maintenance on assigned equipment and system operation. Work may be reviewed by supervisor for compliance to accepted practices.

Qualified on operations and maintenance on primary system and qualified to operate at least one additional EW system.

Documents maintenance actions in IEMS.

Working Conditions

May involve work typical office environment with no unusual hazards, sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, must possess planning/organizing skills and must be able to work under deadlines. May involve work in different environments (labs, outside locations, etc.) While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. May lift up to 50 pounds. May require work in high temperature, dusty or confined areas. May require work using and/or wearing protective equipment. Routine travel to remote site facilities may be involved. May require climbing on structures, ladders, towers, and be properly trained in fall protection gear and procedures.

Minimum Requirements

Formal classroom education equivalent to Navy “C” School or vocational school with formal training in the field of electronic equipment maintenance and equipment manufacturer training.

Two years’ operating experience with military search, acquisition, ground control, height finding or fire control radar systems.

Four years’ related experience in:

Digital/analog signal processing

Synchro-servo circuits

Radar and radar theory

Electromechanical devices

Video signal processing and recording

Communications (multiplexer equipment)

Digital/analog computer systems

DC power supplies

Test equipment

Optical equipment

RF signal processing

Antenna systems

Low-voltage AC equipment

Primary and secondary power equipment

Auto-transfer (UPS) equipment

Portable AC generators

Possess and maintain a DoD Secret clearance

Ability to speak, read, and write English.

Possess a valid state Driver’s License.
