Job Summary

The Transportation business line of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Railway Construction Manager based out of the Edmonton, AB office. This position can also be based out of the Calgary, AB office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Reporting to the Alberta Rail Lead, provide engineering, technical, and management support to the Rail Group

  • Provide assistance to other Transportation disciplines as project needs dictate

  • Lead preparation of safety plans, proposals, design packages, tender documentation, cost estimates, schedules, and reports

  • Coordinate field resources and act as resident engineer on large rail projects and programs

  • Embrace project management principles and provide support to PMs

  • Act as a central liaison between AECOM, clients, and contractors on railway construction sites

  • Assist the design office with quality and constructability design reviews

  • Supervise and mentor less-experienced team members

  • Provide quality and quantity control on construction projects

  • This role may require working away from home for extended periods subject to project needs

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma

  • 7+ years railway construction management experience

  • Experience managing projects over $30 million in construction value

  • Familiarity with current railway design standards and regulations

  • Team player who is willing and eager to lead multi-disciplinary project teams and tackle new challenges

  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight

  • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Willingness for a mixture of office and field work, including remote locations

  • Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety legislation and preparing safe work plans

  • Thorough understanding of current Railway Design/Construction Standards and Regulations (AREMA, CN, CP, Transport Canada, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

  • P.Eng.

  • 15+ Years Freight Rail Experience

  • 5+ Years Transit & LRT Experience

  • Prior Civil/Track Design & Drafting Experience
