Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join our growing Western Canada Remediation and Reclamation team in Edmonton, AB. This is a Full-time role.

We are looking for candidates that have a can-do attitude, are enthusiastic, team-oriented professionals, with a strong technical background; a P.Eng designation is highly preferred and, field/project management experience is also an asset.

This position offers the opportunity to work on various civil/geotechnical engineering projects in a multi-discipline project team environment. In this role you will be responsible for developing cost effective, practical civil/geotechnical engineering designs and construction solutions for our clients. This immediate need requires the applicant to have strong technical design as well as communication and organizational skills to manage projects and act as a technical resource for the team.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Working on a variety of small to large scale projects to support AECOM's business lines in transportation, rail, energy, mining, buildings, and water resources.

  • Perform field investigation and inspection programs, collecting and analyzing field data and laboratory testing results, and detailed technical reporting on the programs.

  • Assisting senior engineers and project managers with developing and managing project scopes, budgets, staffing and schedules.

  • Engineering design and assessment of geotechnical systems involving foundation design, bearing capacity, slope stability and settlement analysis, soil improvement, and others.

  • Perform construction supervision, field testing and monitoring, including engineering close-out and report.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Geological Engineering with emphasis on Geotechnical Engineering.

  • +4 years of related experience within the civil, geological or geotechnical engineering field.

  • P.Eng in good standing with APEGA and/or EGBC.

  • Valid and unrestricted driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters' Degree in Geotechnical Engineering.

  • +6 years of technical and field experience within the field of geotechnical engineering.

  • Knowledge and experience with various geotechnical software, such as Geostudios, Ensoft (LPile, Shaft, Apile), etc.

  • Construction oversight, QAQC, contract administration.

  • Coordination of designs with drafting teams and/or personal proficiency with AutoCAD.

  • Experience with project management.

  • Proposal writing, job scoping, project plans.

  • Highly developed written communication, time management and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills; conduct yourself with integrity, work within multi-disciplined teams, deal with complex issues, and maintain effective working relationships.

  • Have a high level of initiative and enthusiasm for getting things done.

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite; excellent knowledge of Excel and Word.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $77,000 to $108,000.
