AECOM Environmental Engineer in Edmonton, Alberta

Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Intermediate Level Environmental Engineer to join our Environmental Remediation group in Edmonton. We are seeking a candidate who is an excellent communicator and technically proficient, with a working knowledge of relevant Alberta and Federal regulations. The successful candidate will work under the oversight of an experienced team of engineers and scientists on environmental site assessments, remedial design/remediation, and environmental support on multi-disciplinary projects in Alberta and across Western Canada and the Canadian Arctic. This position will involve task management responsibilities with potential for growth to project management.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • project office and field support for a variety of assessment and remediation projects

  • work on interesting, fast-paced projects with the opportunity to learn and expand skills

  • plan and direct environmental assessment, sampling and remediation programs, and critically evaluating analytical data

  • occasional field programs may be requested

  • review and prepare documents, reports, presentations, technical memoranda, and other work products

  • assisting Project Managers with tasks such as monthly project and budget update summaries, preparation of meeting minutes, scheduling and coordinating field programs

Minimum Requirements

  • BSc in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences or Geological Sciences and 2 years experience in environmental consulting, specifically contaminated site assessment and remediation

Preferred Qualifications

  • BSc in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences or Geological Sciences, and is a registered professional in Alberta

  • Technically strong, with a solid attention to detail and thorough approach to work

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable with liaising with clients, colleagues and sub-contractors alike

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Well organized, and strong quality and time management

  • Self-starter, develops and delivers work under own initiative

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software applications

  • Highly motivated and willingness to learn new tasks.
