Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Environmental Engineer-in-Training for employment in the Edmonton, Alberta office. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to :

  • Working in solid waste management including projects such as the development of Landfill and Compost Operations Plans, Master Plans, Environmental Monitoring Plans, Landfill Fill Plans, Landfill Closure and Post-Closure Care Plans, Solid Waste Planning, Airspace Analysis, Financial Modelling, and the design of/and construction management of landfills cells & caps

  • Working on specialized environmental projects and environmental site assessments environmental compliance, monitoring programs and site remediation

  • This position involves field work and travel when required

  • Field work, including groundwater monitoring and sampling, environmental drilling and logging, test pitting, soil and gas sampling, remedial construction oversight, landfill construction oversight, construction survey (GPS), nuclear densometer testing, and construction documentation

  • Office duties would include summarizing data collected in the field, evaluation of field and laboratory data, tabulation and evaluation of data, analyzing project-specific data and remedial design, AutoCAD for civil earthworks, preparation of contract specifications, and writing associated reports

  • Assistance with the preparation of health and safety and quality management plans

  • Working with a multidisciplinary team on a wide variety of projects which may include major infrastructure, mining and oil and gas, and solid waste management systems

  • Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering or other related field required

  • Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software

  • Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as CADD, GIS, or other drainage and water modeling software)

  • Must have good time management skills, a strong work ethic, and most importantly, a strong desire to learn

  • Commitment to quality and attention to detail

  • Ability to work well in teams and get along with coworkers

Preferred Qualifications

  • Registered EIT in Alberta
