Job Summary

AECOM continue to expand their successful and established Development team in Ireland and have a need for a Consultant to join the Dublin office. Our Dublin Development Transportation team currently has a vacancy for a Transport Planner with minimum 2 years’ experience of development planning.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in delivering innovative cost effective solutions to transport and highways issues relating to development projects. You will be proficient in using and analysing data from the various Transportation software packages, AutoCAD, and to produce high quality reports including transport strategies, transport assessments and travel plans. You will be a good communicator and able to work closely with private and public sector clients as well as multi-disciplinary teams. The role would suit a self-motivated individual looking to advance their career in a dynamic team.

Based in Dun Laoghaire the Dublin office has an established track record of successfully delivering transport and highways schemes and has multi-disciplinary capability offer enabling staff to get involved in a wide range of exciting projects.

The team provides transport planning and highway engineering support to private sector clients from concept through to implementation.

Our wide range of clients includes developers, retailers, land owners, house builders, blue chip companies and Universities.

Our current portfolio of works comprises a diverse mix of local and national development transport and highways projects. This provides our staff with a variety of exciting projects to deliver.

A selection of our current and recent projects includes:

  • Numerous appraisals, transport assessments and travel plans for mixed-use, retail, commercial and residential developments.

  • Strategic land use appraisals and strategic masterplanning advice for developers on key strategic development schemes.

  • Major City Centre regeneration projects;

Job Responsibilities

The appropriate level of technical expertise is required in order that the Job / Project Accountabilities listed below can be carried out to the necessary standard:

  • Work from a detailed project brief and deliver high quality work whilst monitoring progress.

  • Deliver transport planning support and advise on a wide range of projects;

  • Support the development of preliminary designs of new road, cycle and footpaths schemes;

  • Identify data and information required for projects and select sub-consultants appropriately.

  • Assist the Project Manager in delivering project work within timescale, budget constraints and quality expectations.

  • Assist the Project Manager in monitoring financial status and progress of projects to ensure delivery on time, to budget and to Client’s satisfaction.

  • Determine computer modelling requirements and ensure effective output from junior staff.

  • Establishing strong working relationships with other internal teams within AECOM’s transportation division

Minimum Requirements

  • A graduate in Transportation Planning or Civil Engineering, related subject or equivalent with experience of transport planning in directly related fields.

  • Ability to deliver transport planning solutions and successfully manage projects.

  • A good all round knowledge of all aspects of transport planning for developments from strategic appraisal through to transport assessments and traffic engineering.

  • Sound technical experience, including familiarity with relevant software e.g. LINSIG, ARCADY, PICADY and AutoCad, AutoTrack.

  • Experience of applying relevant design guidelines such as DMRB and DMURS in developing new road, cycle tracks and footpath designs;

  • Experience of working in a multidisciplinary design team, and have excellent communication skills with architects, clients and planning consultants;

  • Understanding of and experience of working in the Planning Regulatory framework, and knowledge of planning and transport policy as applied to development.

  • A solid track record of having worked on a variety of transportation planning projects;

  • A highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills and ideally a member of a relevant professional body;

  • Clean driving license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A degree in an analytical subject such as engineering, geography, mathematics, economics or similar.

  • Membership of a relevant professional institution (CIHT, CILT, TPS, ICE).
