Job Summary

AECOM is currently seeking an experienced a Senior Mechanical Engineer. Our Mission Critical team are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with experience in Data Centre/Mission Critical projects to join the Building Engineering team to be based in our Dublin office.

You must have Data Centre project experience and be willing to undertake some travel to be eligible for this role.

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the Design and project management of the mechanical cooling systems. Experience of; chilled water systems, direct and indirect evaporative adiabatic data centre cooling would be preferential.

Duties of the role will include, but not be limited to;

  • Receiving brief from Senior Management, be able to contribute to the project management and mechanical design.

  • Help to assess staff requirements at each work stage, agreeing these with the Project Manager and be able to manage single disciplinary and multi-disciplinary projects.

  • Attend progress, design team and co-ordinate meetings.

  • Prepare outline scheme report / technical content of the design information.

  • Input to pre-qualification and selection of contractors, respond to tender queries, comment and review tender returns.

  • Attend tender / client interviews.

  • Attend site inspection meetings.

  • Ensure the project work complies with the Project

  • Management Plan and Programme.

  • Be competent with mechanical engineering calculations.

  • Understand and implement AECOM’s Safety Health and Environment Policy.

  • Obtain the necessary information both internally and externally from Architects, Quantity Surveyors and Design Consultants

Minimum Requirements

  • A good technical understanding of mechanical building services on Data Centre and Mission Critical Projects

  • Significant track record of leading design teams on complex mechanical related projects along with a solid understand of co-ordinating with electrical team

  • Experience in project and client management within a defined fee budget and program.

  • Experience in identifying and winning new work and building client relationships.

  • Ability to speak fluently and communicate effectively in written reports and oral presentations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Chartered Engineer with CIBSE

  • Member of the Uptime Institute
