Job Summary

The Water Division of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Construction Field Inspector for immediate employment in the Detroit, Michigan office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in Water Resources, specific to Wastewater and Water underground infrastructure.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Condition assessment of existing pipes and manholes

  • Inspect the data collection by the CCTV subcontractors

  • Inspect the repair and/or replacement of the pipes, valves and manholes

  • Locate the manholes and underground utilities using As built, GIS and other softwares

  • Maintain the safety practices of the subcontractors

  • Maintain the quality control Plan

  • Monitor and implement the safety plan

  • Monitor field changes and report to the SR. Inspector/Field manager

  • Communicate with the public and home owners when working in the neighborhoods

  • Driving to different neighborhoods in Detroit area

  • Performs daily field inspections

  • Maintains inspection records

  • Participates in punch lists, testing, and commissioning

  • Provides input to documentation for area and equipment turnover

  • Inspects construction progress which may include ensuring procedures and materials comply with specifications

  • Observes work in progress to assure conformance with requirements and acceptable workmanship

  • Reviews contract plans and specifications for compliance with appropriate building codes and project requirements

  • Assisting with review and reconciliation of construction schedules

  • Scheduling updates and contractor payments

  • Observe testing and review test results for conformance with technical specifications

  • Works under general supervision

  • May assist with training entry level employees

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • 5+ years of experience in the water and sewer industry

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications

  • NASSCO , ACI, Soil certification is a plus

  • AutoCAD Experience is a plus

  • Experience drafting civil design projects such as water or sewer lines utilizing AutoCAD

  • OSHA training: Min of 10 Hrs construction safety, preferred 30 Hrs

  • Experience with Health and Safety plans

  • MUTCD Certified

  • Construction experience
