Job Summary/Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a Discipline Representative

  • Ability to concisely express complex system solutions in very early design phases in order to share intent either internally for further development, or externally to assist design partners

  • Complete mechanical systems designs for projects of all sizes;

  • Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and judgement based on experience to design and construct HVAC and plumbing systems and equipment in buildings using building information modeling

  • Coordinate HVAC&P systems with other disciplines to produce complete building designs

  • Makes major design recommendations and design decisions with little input from senior staff;

  • Plans design work, calculates costs, and time schedules to assign design duties to junior staff working on projects;

  • Coordinates design and schedule with other disciplines such as architectural, structural, electrical, technology, clerical, and equipment suppliers

  • Maintains accurate project documentation and design data for permanent project files;

  • Acts as an adviser and reviews correspondence prepared by junior project team members;

  • Evaluates project staffing requirements, analyzes problems, and writes reports;

  • Attends project meetings, or when appropriate, delegates activities;

  • Meets with clients, prepares proposals and presentations while maintaining good client relations;

  • Assists in project checking for quality control on other projects;

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of technical plans and drawings;

  • Ability to switch between work on multiple/different projects daily

  • Represents the organization and maintains liaison with individuals and related organizations

  • Self-motivated with strong work ethic and take pride in your work

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with a Mechanical Emphasis + 8 years of relevant experienceor demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mechanical engineering experience within a consulting or design-build firm

  • Skill in the use of Microsoft programs and BIM software (primarily Revit and AutoCAD)

  • Documented experience with advanced design and diverse projects and clients

  • Experience with sustainable design

  • Laboratory, Federal, Water/Wastewater facility design experience

  • Experience with Design Build and other Alternative Delivery practices

  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently

  • Proven success in leading pursuits and managing long term clients
