Job Summary

The Design Consulting Services (DCS) Division of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Senior Traffic Engineer for immediate employment in the Denver, Colorado Office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate progressive experience in traffic engineering, with specialized skills and experience in traffic operations and transportation planning. The incumbent can look forward to multi-disciplinary projects requiring complex design and analysis skills; management of projects and major project tasks; supervision of technical staff; and client interaction. Incumbent may participate on design-build projects throughout the Gulf Southwest Region.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead interdisciplinary teams with technical responsibilities in the areas of traffic operations analysis and simulation; traffic signal design and operations; signing and striping plan preparation; construction traffic control planning; and transportation planning

  • Oversees project deliverables including construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports

  • Experience with Intelligent Transportation Systems planning and design

  • Supervises work prepared by junior professional staff and technicians

  • Participates in client meetings and the presentation of project findings to technical and lay audiences

  • Participates in client marketing, the preparation of proposals and making sales presentations

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering

  • 10+ years of experience in traffic engineering design and traffic operations

  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration in Colorado or ability to obtain within six months of starting employment

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite including MSProject, MSWord, Excel, and PowerPoint. Proficiency in Microstation and/or AutoCAD

  • Experience with traffic engineering software including SIDRA, Rodel, VISSIM, Synchro/SimTraffic, and HCS

  • Knowledge of TransCAD travel demand modeling software

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15+ years' experience preferred
