Position Title Traffic Modeller

Job Summary

We are currently expanding our Traffic Team in Greater London. We currently have a vacancy for a Traffic Modeller with qualifications relevant to transportation and experience in local traffic modelling and analysis.

The team is located in Croydon which is one of the fastest growing areas in London with excellent transport links and is only 12 minutes to Central London. Our modern office has multi-disciplinary design and planning capability.

The role will suit individuals who want to develop their career in traffic modelling and share our enthusiasm to support our expanding workload and clients. We would consider the role on either a full or part-time basis and are happy to look at a range of different working patterns.

Our Traffic team is involved in a number of high profile projects with a variety of clients in the UK and Middle East. A selection of our current and recent projects includes:

  • Southwark Highways and Professional Services Contract

  • Transport for London

  • Thames Tideway Tunnel

  • London Highway Alliance Contract

  • High Speed 2

  • Sheffield Supertram

  • London Tramlink

Job Duties

  • Carry out traffic analysis and produce technical reports.

  • Attend internal and external project briefings to gain overview of projects and understanding role within the project.

  • Appoint, monitor and manage sub-consultants where necessary for production of required data / information.

  • Supervise and guide junior team members

  • Assist in the preparation of detailed client briefs or fee proposals for manager approval and contribute to major bids.

  • Establish strong working relationships with other disciplines within AECOM and external organisations where required.

  • Undertake Health & Safety duties including ensuring a safe and healthy working environment and fulfilling all responsibilities for health and safety in design.

Specific Skills Required:

  • Good LINSIG/TRANSYT and VISSIM skills

  • Ability to interrogate modelling outputs and assess scheme benefits.

  • Good numerical and analytical skills.

  • Good report writing skills

  • Knowledge of data collection requirements and techniques.

  • Demonstrate understanding of Health and Safety including CDM responsibilities.

  • Proficient user of MS Excel and Word.

  • Experience in VisVap

  • Experience in UTC-VISSIM

  • Experience in pedestrian modelling

  • Experience in using GIS packages

  • Knowledge of TfL’s Modelling Guidelines and Model Auditing Process or other relevant standards.

  • Experience with AutoCAD

  • Knowledge / experience of undertaking concept, preliminary or detailed design, especially traffic signal schemes

Minimum Requirements

  • Demonstrate experience and understanding in local network modelling with modelling packages: LINSIG and VISSIM.

  • Experience of model calibration and validation techniques and criteria.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree or Master qualification in an analytical subject such as: Engineering, Mathematics or Geography or equivalent
