AECOM are looking to recruit a Senior Environmental Consultant/Project Manager to join our established Remediation Services team based in our Croydon office delivering professional consulting services to clients, primarily consisting of managing desk studies, soil and groundwater site investigations and remediation in relation to contaminated land and remediation projects in the UK (including project management, coordination of staff/subcontractors and client liaison).
The Remediation Services team specializes in contaminated land work and is part of a larger environmental team including EIA, EHS, noise, air quality, ecology, waste and hydrogeological consultants.
In the UK we work for private sector industrial clients and public sector bodies in terms of brownfield redevelopment, soil waste management, environmental permitting/compliance and remediation of contaminated sites. We also carry out water resources work and provide environmental due diligence services in relation to property transactions.
Relevant degree, postgraduate qualification and relevant experience in industry/consultancy preferred
Project management and client-facing experience
Field investigation experience (including drilling, working with subcontractors, collecting groundwater and vapour data/samples)
Report writing, including generic quantitative risk assessment and ground conditions chapters of Environmental Statements
Experience of working in a corporate environment (within or outside of environmental consultancy)
Self-starting and highly motivated approach to work
Chartered or demonstrably working towards Chartership
Good understanding of UK legislation and guidance relating to contaminated land (Part 2A, Planning, Permitting Regs, WFD)
Good understanding of contaminated land investigations, data review and risk assessment.
Working knowledge of MS Office applications.
GIS and/or other data management and handling software
Strong team worker – able to listen to requirements and work well with others.
Attention to detail and a thorough, flexible approach to work.
A quality- and safety-oriented approach
Strong communication skills at all levels (verbal and written).
Project Management skills and experience
Personnel/Subcontractor management experience
Client contact and proposal/tender preparation experience
Full, clean Driving License
Minimum: Degree in Engineering or Science, preferably (but not essentially) Geology, Chemistry, Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering.
Preferred: MSc/PhD degree in Geology / Hydrogeology / Contaminated Land / Environmental Engineering / Environmental Science
