Position Title Principal Engineer - Brighton Secondment

We have an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated and driven individual to play an important role within our growing Civil Engineering Design team. Increasing demands for our services have created exciting opportunities for experienced Principal Civil Engineers to be involved in the delivery of a number of major schemes on behalf of Southern Water from their offices in Falmer (Brighton)
In particular we are looking for an experienced Civil Engineer, capable of working independently where required, and also able to lead design or project teams.
Key responsibilities will include
Carrying out feasibility studies, reference designs and detailed designs
Preparing reports, technical specifications and proposals for water related infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects for key local and regional clients
Assisting with business development and tendering in the water sector
Carrying out water resource planning/drought planning and water balance studies
Working as part of a larger multi-disciplinary team and leading junior team members when necessary
BSc, BEng or MEng in Civil Engineering.
Experience in delivering and managing all stages of multi-disciplinary engineering projects from initial studies through to detailed design.
Detailed knowledge of one or more of the following;
Clean water networks, pump stations, reservoirs and treatment works design.
Waste water networks including gravity systems, rising mains and treatment works design.
Surface water network including gravity networks, pump stations and outfalls.
Experience of working within multidisciplinary teams, and able to lead junior staff from a variety of professional backgrounds.
Excellent communication skills and be able to represent AECOM in Client facing roles at all levels.
Accustomed to working at the highest levels of HSSE compliance at all design stages.
Chartered Member of the Institute of Civil Engineers or equivalent
Experience of pressurised pipe and/or gravitational system hydraulic modelling software.
Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD, and/or Civils 3D.
Understanding and/or experience of structural design of chambers and water retaining structures.
Understanding and/or experience of water or wastewater process design.
Experience of planning and delivering technical proposals and tender documents.
