AECOM Millwright Apprentice in Conklin, Alberta

Job Summary

AECOM is hiring Millwright Apprentice to join the MEG Energy project team on site near Conklin, Alberta. This is a full-time position on a 7/7 shift schedule.

Millwrights install, maintain, repair and troubleshoot stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment in sites such as factories, production plants and recreational facilities.

Millwright Apprentice will be expected to do but are not limited to the following tasks:

  • Describe rigging and hoisting equipment and procedures

  • Describe measuring fundamentals for the millwright trade

  • Describe layout procedures and tools

  • Demonstrate use and maintenance of hand tools

  • Demonstrate and maintain grinders

  • Demonstrate and maintain power saws

  • Demonstrate use of threaded fasteners and locking devices

  • Describe installation and removal of fasteners

  • Demonstrate procedures for operating drilling machines

  • Demonstrate procedures for operating milling machines

  • Demonstrate procedures for operating lathes

  • Describe machine levelling, anchoring and grouting procedures

  • Demonstrate rim and face shaft alignment

  • Interpret prints, drawings and sketches

Conditions of Employment for this position are:

  1. For positions that fall into the list of required positions within the AECOM Oil & Gas Background Check policy, qualified applicants who are offered, and accept, the role must complete a satisfactory pre-employment Background Check. This may consist of all or a combination of the following: Canadian Criminal Record check, an Employment Verification and/or an Education and Accreditation Verification.

  2. For positions that fall into the list of required positions within the AECOM Oil & Gas Alcohol & Drug (A&D) policy, qualified applicants who are offered, and accept, a position must provide evidence of a satisfactory Alcohol & Drug test in accordance with the Company's Alcohol & Drug Policy. In order to be valid, the test must have been conducted at the direction of AECOM - O&G Business Unit.

Minimum Requirements

  • Current Registered Trade Apprentice

  • Construction Safety Training Systems (CSTS-09 or 2020) Certification

  • H2S Alive

  • Aerial Work Platform (AWP)

  • Fall Arrest and/or Fall Protection (OSSA issued ticket is the general requirement)

  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
