Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an Electrical Discipline Lead to be based in Columbus, Ohio.

The Discipline lead manages a staff responsible for producing various designs of high-performance buildings within multiple sectors including Mission Critical, Corporate Workplace, Commercial building, Federal Civilian and DoD, Higher Education, Health Care, Sports Arenas, Themed Entertainment, and Justice projects. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Team leadership and development

  • Serves as the Engineer of Record for drawings, specifications and reports prepared under your direction

  • Researches, develops, designs, specifies and witnesses the testing of electrical systems, equipment, components and materials, applying principles and techniques of electrical engineering

  • Organizes and conducts site visits for the purpose of data collection and evaluation of electrical systems, equipment, components and materials for projects with and without well-defined scopes

  • Develops designs within a BIM design environment

  • Develops, designs and specifies site electrical power, and equipment, components and materials

  • Develops, designs and specifies equipment, components and materials for all building electrical systems

  • Directs activities to verify installed electrical systems, equipment, components and materials conform to the requirements of project contract documents

  • Express complex system solutions in very early design phases in order to share intent either internally for further development, or externally to assist design partners

  • Coordinates with architectural, structural, mechanical and other disciplines as required to effectively engineer, design and specify the electrical power, control and lighting systems for projects

  • Completes assigned engineering and design tasks in accordance with client specified criteria and applicable codes and standards

  • Review team member's work for quality and recognition of training requirements

  • Interact and work with diverse set of clients and subcontractors

  • The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to those listed above.

  • Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team

  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.

  • Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by others.

  • Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.

  • Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.

  • Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of PS&E package.

  • Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.

  • Prepares technical specification sections.

  • Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS in Electrical Engineering + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

  • PE (Profession Engineering) License required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with 10+ years of electrical engineering experience within a consulting or design-build firm

  • Experience with Revit and AutoCAD design projects

  • Experience with sustainable design

  • Experience with Design Build and other Alternative Delivery practices

  • Documented experience with advanced design, and aesthetically challenging design with high profile architecture firms

  • Thrive as a leader in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team

  • Enjoy developing innovative solutions to challenging opportunities
