Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Intermediate Inspector for immediate employment in the Columbia, SC office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitors conformance to quality, performance, and/or code requirements by performing inspection duties

  • Performs daily field inspections

  • Maintains inspection reports.

  • Participates in punch lists, testing, and commissioning

  • Inspects construction progress which may include ensuring procedures and materials comply with specifications

  • Observes work in progress to assure conformance with requirements and acceptable workmanship

  • Observes work for compliance with contract documents

  • Reviews and responds to shop drawing submittals

  • Responds to request for information, clarifications, proposals, and change orders

  • Assists with review and reconciliation of construction schedules

  • Observes testing and review test results for conformance with technical specifications

  • Confirms quantities for pay applications

  • Assists with verification of project completion milestones and contract closeout/commissioning

  • May assist with training entry level employees

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma

  • 5+ years inspection experience

  • Experience in construction observation/inspection services for water or wastewater treatment plant projects

  • Construction observation/inspection services experience in water or wastewater infrastructure projects (water mains, sewer force mains, gravity sewer, utility rehabilitation, trenchless technology, etc.)

  • HAZWOPER Certification or ability to earn HAZWOPER certification within 6 months

  • Have functional knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, and scheduling within the Microsoft Office software

  • Must have excellent organizational skills and be able to work well in a team environment

  • Strong communication and client relation skills

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Construction Engineering or Associate’s Degree in Construction Management

  • Previous experience in the construction industry

  • Construction estimation experience
