AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer for employment in the Chicago office. In this role, entry-level technical new hires are eligible to participate in AECOM’s Graduate Development Program (GDP), a 2-year development experience designed to support assimilation into the organization, help with technical development planning toward licensure (or other early technical milestones), and with creating a foundation of knowledge necessary for future career success.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks
Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives
Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids
Assist with the mechanical design of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems as well as plumbing and fire protection for commercial and institutional facilities
Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
Analyze and select HVAC and Plumbing equipment
Work within a project team environment, interfacing and communicating with other design team members
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering or other related field required
Interested in or experience with HVAC and/or Plumbing Design
Previous work experience in construction, agricultural, or office work
Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software
Familiarity with HVAC specific software such as Trane Trace or Carrier HAP heating/cooling load calculation tools
AutoCAD or Revit graphics software experience
Excellent communication skills
Valid driver's license
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred
