AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry Level Electrical Engineer for employment in the Chicago, IL office. Under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer:

  • Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.

  • Exercise judgment limited to developing details of work in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives

  • Prepare engineering related calculations and develop drawings and visual aids

  • Research and apply building code, regulatory and industry code requirements

  • Prepare electrical design calculations, utilize electrical design software

  • design of both electrical power distribution and instrumentation/control systems for municipal and industrial facilities working under the direct supervision of a lead Electrical Engineer.

  • Design lighting, grounding and power systems up to 5 kV

  • Perform both manual and computer-aided electrical system calculations

  • Prepare final working drawings and specifications

  • Implement and follow Company Quality Management System Procedures

  • Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering or other related field required

  • Capable of using spreadsheet, word processing and standard office software

  • Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as CADD, Revit, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS, Hydrologic/Hydraulic models)

  • Good computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office and electrical specific software such as EasyPower and AG132

  • Good communication and listening techniques

  • This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) preferred

  • Relevant industry experience through interns or co-op work

  • Have an interest/focus on Smart Energy technologies
