Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Operator (Lead), Traffic Monitoring for employment in Chesterfield, MO.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Able to fill a lead technician role on any shift, which may include leading night or weekend shifts

  • Lead Traffic Management Center (TMC) operators perform the full range of complex assignments at the TMC

  • May be given responsibility for TMC wide projects, which would be comparable to, or even slightly exceed, the projects referenced to in a standard

  • The lead TMC operator must apply precedents and must also know when it is necessary to deviate from precedents. The lead operator must be able to make needed changes on a real time basis and continue to adapt and re-assess as conditions change

  • May have extensive dealings with organizations outside the TMC and coordinate the input received from those organizations

  • In the absence of the Operations Supervisor, performs the operations functions of a supervisor

  • Prepares training material for team meetings and training sessions or training videos or tools for distribution

  • Corrects employees and encourages adherence to procedures, investigates errors, provides findings and follows up with coaching of employees if counseling is not warranted. Does not counsel or discipline employees directly, but may provide supporting information for discipline to supervisors but does not initiate disciplinary action. May participate in counseling only if a supervisor is leading the counseling

  • Candidates for this position must be in good standing

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma

  • 2+ years of experience in a call center, dispatch center, or control room environment

  • Proficiency using Microsoft products, ATMS (Automated Traffic Management System) Software Suite

  • Self-motivated and excellent at multi-tasking; ability to perform well under pressure in a fast paced environment

  • Thorough knowledge of the local roadway system

  • Ability and Flexibility to work a variety of shifts

  • Expert knowledge of TMC procedures

  • Ability to write and/or edit standard operating guidelines with guidance from the TMC supervisors and technicians

  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent mix of education and practical experience

  • An intimate knowledge of state roadways, including their alternate names, the jurisdiction they are located, where the jurisdiction changes and alternate routes when available

  • National Incident Management System, ICS 100 and ICS 700 Certificates

  • Previous experience as a transportation Traffic Management Center Operator
