AECOM Sr. Project Manager – Natural Gas Infrastructure in Charlotte, North Carolina

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Sr. Project Manager – Natural Gas Infrastructure to join our Energy group in the Charlotte, NC office. The selected individual will become an integral part of the project management / design team, managing and working on projects such as natural gas pipelines and facilities and local municipal improvement projects for natural gas clients. The Charlotte team works closely with a number of regional offices, supporting local and regional projects.
There is a preference for this position to be based in our Charlotte, NC office, but other Southeast or MidAtlantic region office locations may be considered.
Plans, directs, and supervises all operations included in moderately sized projects with moderate risk, complexity, and financial impact.
Manages and leads all technical, financial, and client satisfaction areas using consistent processes and tools.
Will include management of teams across business lines, in remote locations and/or management of subcontractors.
Manages projects on a local to regional basis achieving quality outcomes, financial performance and client satisfaction.
Successfully develops strategy, prepares proposals, negotiates contracts, and executes project.
Acts as primary point of contact with client on projects and programs.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Acts as primary point of contact with client with major natural gas clients
Responsible for providing management of ongoing natural gas projects and programs, while potentially supporting the design of energy infrastructure, site-civil, roadway, transit, and other projects
Work will require collaboration with both a larger AECOM team and the client
Direct work with minimal direction from the client and/or senior team members
Manage production & delivery of work products of varying complexity within a defined fee and schedule
Preparation of project reports, drawings, calculations, and project control documents.
Design of natural gas / oil pipelines & facilities
Coordinating with public utility companies, private utilities, sub consultants, and other entities to successfully deliver infrastructure projects.
Stay current with changing local, regional, and national pipeline safety regulations, and other industry codes and standards
Interact with multi-discipline and multi-office teams within AECOM, as well as with clients and various regulatory agencies
The role will provide the opportunity for skill development in many aspects of the profession, as well as opportunities for increased responsibility, challenges, and project management.
BA/BS plus 10 years of relevant experience in task and project management specific to natural gas /oil pipelines or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education including 2 years of leadership.
Ability to interface and develop relationships with high profile utilities, interstate pipeline, governmental, industrial, commercial, and municipal clients.
Ability to work independently on projects and perform gas transmission and distribution pipeline design, produce supporting calculations, produce engineering reports, develop drawing packages specific to midstream gas pipelines,
Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with design engineers and managers for the preparation of high quality drawings
Excellent time management skills, strong work ethics, show attention to details, and most importantly, a strong desire to learn
Due to the nature of this work, U.S. Citizenship is required
Valid driver's license in the United States
15 years of task and project management experience specific to natural gas pipelines
4+ years of proven leadership experience
Professional Engineer license
Experience with transmission & distribution pipelines and facilities
FERC pipeline project experience
Involvement with natural gas industry associations.
Specific involvement with utilities.
