Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry-Level GIS Specialist for employment in the Charlotte, NC office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and associated software to produce, display, and analyze geographic information. Our department uses spatial data, LiDAR and the latest 1D/2D modeling software to identify flooding hazards in communities across the nation. The successful candidate will work side by side with a team of engineers and GIS professionals that develop cutting edge processes to deliver high quality flood hazard information to the client and the local communities in a timely and efficient manner.

As GIS Specialist in AECOM’s Charlotte, NC Water Division, you will:

  • Develop and maintain databases, reports, and mapping

  • Create, organize, manipulate, and retrieve GIS data for reporting, analysis, and presentation purposes

  • Perform quality assurance of GIS data and associated graphic components

  • Use concepts, practices and procedures to extract and provide GIS data to clients

  • Produce maps, reports and databases to communicate the results of flood hazard analyses to industry professionals, public officials and the public

Minimum Requirements

  • BS in Geography or a related discipline

  • Working knowledge with ArcGIS and other GIS databases supported by relevant coursework

  • Desire to succeed in a fast-paced and collaborative team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of or experience in environmental, water resources, or other related scientific/engineering investigations or studies

  • Experience with database applications (Oracle, SQL Server, MS Access)
