The Water Business Unit of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Water Resources Engineer for immediate employment in our Chantilly, VA office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in Water Resources Engineering specific to design work in the areas of stormwater and water resources projects. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. The successful candidate can look forward to a variety of projects with Municipal, Federal, and private clients throughout the DC Metro area and beyond. Projects will include the planning and design of stormwater management facilities (e.g., BMP, GI, LID), work on dam construction and rehabilitation projects, and the design and planning of flood mitigation facilities, and water quality studies and TMDL action plans/studies. Most projects will require the use of CAD and design/ modeling software, and proficiency in this software is required.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Leads the design efforts for a variety of water resources and site development projects
Construction phase monitoring of projects
Training and mentoring of junior staff
Preparation of technical reports and technical documentation of calculations performed
Participation in proposal and business development efforts

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, hydrology or related field
Registration as a Professional Engineer
5+ years of experience in the planning and design of Stormwater Management facilities, including project analysis, feasibility and budgeting required
Technical proficiency in civil engineering design and analysis, including site grading, SWM/BMP, hydrology/hydraulic calculations, TMDL compliance, erosion and sediment control, storm sewer, sanitary sewer and water design.
Proficient with CAD and design software (Civil 3D, TR-55, TR-20, Bentley Design Suites, Water CAD, AutoTurn, etc)
Experience working with local and state permit agencies
Strong written and oral communication, quantitative and interpersonal skills
Strong work ethic and professional demeanor
Proactive on assignments and demonstrate initiative
Must work independently with minimal supervision, and complete multiple technical tasks under tight deadlines
Valid driver’s license required
Experience in design of Green Infrastructure, Low Impact Development, Environmental Site Design (ESD), LEED projects
Experience in site development design
