Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a

Senior Estimator to join our Estimating team located in

Germantown, MD or

Chantilly, VA .

This position is also open to remote work throughout the U.S. If working remote, you will need to be able to travel up to 50%.

This is a contingent position.

The Senior Estimator will be required to develop staffing estimates and some materials estimates in support of the Business Development and Proposal process.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Develop competitive staffing and materials estimates based on PWS, SOO, and/or SOWs issued primarily by US Federal Customers as part of RFP’s

  2. Some customers may be Foreign Governments or commercial entities.

  3. Interface with Capture, BD and Operations staff within and outside AECOM in order to get a more thorough understanding of requirements

  4. Preparation of the Basis of cross-discipline Estimate - Construction to Services (Facilities, Vehicles, IT, Aircraft, BOS, Range, Government Services, etc.)

  5. Prepare bid analysis for scope, cost, and price – validates maintenance manuals, SME inputs to Commercial standards and/or company metrics, RSMEANS APPA, Gardnier, Chilton, Conklin & deDecker, Etc.

  6. Conduct work requiring independent evaluation, selection, adaptation and modification of standard estimating techniques, procedures, and criteria.

  7. Prepare or assist in the preparation of preliminary, definitive, change orders and check estimates using appropriate methods and techniques.

  8. Prepare equipment and material take-off.

  9. Utilize the appropriate company and industry historical data for costing estimates.

  10. Prepare or assist in the preparation of project and discipline estimate summaries.

  11. Prepare or assist in the preparation of the Basis of Estimate.

  12. Participate in estimate reviews.

  13. Establish and maintain cost databases and product line specific parametric analysis tools.

  14. Develop proficiency in the use of the Company estimating systems and processes.

Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree and at least 10 years of experience in the Government Services industry.

  • In lieu of degree requirement, must have at least 18 years of experience in the Government Services industry.

  • Experience with estimating staffing and materials requirements for Facility O&M, Construction, Aircraft Maintenance, Ground Vehicle Maintenance, and/or Construction.

  • Must have strong Excel/Access skills, to include the ability to query, create pivot tables, analyze data and link sheets.

  • Knowledge and understanding of estimating terminology, measures, concepts and principles for compiling bid proposals and construction means, methods, and sequences.

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, Requests-for-Proposals and contracts.

  • Possess strong computer skills.

  • If working remotely within the U.S., position may require travel up to 50%.

  • Due to the nature of the work, must be a U.S. citizen.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Top Secret security clearance

  • Experience pricing for Government contracts.

  • Experience gathering competitive intelligence and developing competitor profiles and/or competitive landscapes.
