Nuclear Waste Partnership, an LLC of AECOM, is seeking a
Procedure Writer/Trainer to be based in our Carlsbad, New Mexico location.
The successful candidate will work with limited supervision to analyze, design and develop administrative, technical and work process documents in support of a nuclear operating facility. These documents will include operations, alarm response, emergency operating and abnormal operating procedures. The candidate will obtain process specific training and follow the facility writer’s guide with respect to site procedure specifications regarding format, order, clarity, conciseness, style and terminology, and participate in verification and validation of procedure usability in the field. The candidate will take direction from the Procedures Manager. Will be required to interface with Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) as necessary during all phases of new or revised procedure development. The candidate will be expected to use advanced questioning and circular reasoning techniques to gather the information needed to generate procedure documents. The candidate will be responsible to evaluate requested/proposed changes to procedures, research technical manuals, vendor specs, plant diagrams, design documents and station policies to ensure the safe operation of equipment, procedure flow and workability, and adherence to regulatory requirements, directions and writers guidelines. Will be required to be Mine Safety Hazard trained in order to perform plant/facility walk-downs, from which they will use their observations to incorporate human factors standards, performance capabilities and technical accuracy.
Master’s degree with four (4) years of related experience, or
Bachelor’s degree with six (6) years of related experience, or
Associates degree with ten (10) years of experience, or
High School Diploma or GED and fourteen (14) years of experience is required.
Two (2) years of writing at a DOE facility, DOD facility or nuclear facility is required. (Less than two (2) years is acceptable if the candidate has a technical writing certificate from an approved provider).
Must be proficient with use of Microsoft Word (formatting, tables, headers and footers) as well as other MS Office Suite software (Excel, PowerPoint).
Advanced level technical writing skills and strong vocabulary and grammar are critical to the success of this position.
Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be US Citizens.
Familiarity with governmental training and procedural standards is preferred.
Previous WIPP experience is preferred.
