AECOM Landscape Architect in Cambridge, United Kingdom
Business Line Environment
Position Title Landscape Architect
United Kingdom - Cambridgeshire
We are currently seeking a Landscape Architect to join and support the growth of our environment team, based in Cambridge. This is an opportunity to join a team which is growing and with strong links across many disciplines. As a member of one of the UK’s largest and most diverse landscape practices, you will work on and often take a lead on a range of types and sizes of projects, including strategic planning, major infrastructure, urban regeneration and environmental enhancement schemes.
We will consider applicants with a wide range of experience but a proven track record in landscape planning, including LVIA and TVIA, is preferable. We are looking for a team player with good technical skills who wishes to be involved in the development of innovative, cost effective and buildable solutions in an environment that is collaborative, stimulating and challenging. The role would suit a self-motivated individual looking to advance their career in a dynamic team. The role is based in Cambridge but will support the wider team, principally across the south-east of England, but also nationally and so some travelling between offices will be expected. AECOM offers a flexible package of benefits and we would be interested to hear from applicants seeking either a part time or full time role.
The landscape architecture discipline within our environment business numbers around 35 and contributes to a wider landscape practice of around 100 staff across the UK and Ireland. The Cambridge office is located in peaceful, leafy surroundings close to Churchill College on the western edge of the city. The office supports a range of sectors, such as healthcare, education and transportation with major clients including the University of Cambridge and the Ministry of Defense. The environment and planning team comprises a group of specialists in landscape architecture, EIA, ecology, planning, water resources and ground engineering. Other key disciplines comprise project management, cost consultancy and various aspects of engineering.
We have an impressive portfolio of major national and international infrastructure projects. A selection of our current and recent projects includes:
Townscape and visual impact assessments for various major regeneration schemes across the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Landscape and visual impact assessments for major infrastructure schemes, including HS2 Phase 2B and A303 Stonehenge.
Regeneration plan for the renovation of Crystal Palace Park, London.
Long-term management of habitats at sites across the UK on behalf of the Environment Agency, including the flagship Jubilee River scheme.
Green Infrastructure strategy and landscape masterplan for a new garden suburb at Fareham, Hampshire.

Heritage and character assessments to support neighbourhood plans across England.
River restoration schemes across north London and Hertfordshire.
Landscape and visual appraisals to support site allocations for new urban extensions on behalf of the Homes and Communities Agency.
Clear communication, including the ability to write concise technical reports and to contribute positively to conference calls, meetings and workshops.
Ability to work collaboratively and iteratively within a multi-disciplinary design team.
Assist in the management of projects, including contractual, financial and programme management.
Establish working relationships with other members of the landscape team and internal teams across the business.
Contribute to tenders for new work.
Produce or oversee the production of drawings and other technical documentation using appropriate software, with the necessary level of detail as required at various stages of development: strategies, conceptual design, detailed design and production information.
Landscape Institute accredited Bachelors degree or Diploma.
Chartered or Licentiate member of the Landscape Institute
Fluency in English and ability to communicate effectively.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of the UK legal and planning system with respect to landscape architecture.
Technically competent in preparing landscape and/or townscape and visual impact assessments and appraisals and evidence-base documents to support development plans and policies in accordance with best practice.
