Job Summary

AECOM’s healthcare building services team are seeking a project and business development lead to support the Healthcare Director in either London, St. Albans or Cambridge. You will help to manage the operations and work to grow the teams work pipeline in this exciting sector.

The individual will take the lead on projects and be the main contact for clients and your project team, whilst also supporting the director with work winning, client relations, technical control and enhancing AECOM’s reputation in the sector.

AECOM’s wider multi-disciplinary healthcare team across UK& I comprises 150 healthcare specialists

offering professional, technical and management services spanning the entire asset lifecycle to public sector and independent healthcare providers.

Throughout UK & Ireland we advise on a wide range of healthcare facilities that demand detailed knowledge and specialist skill sets, from pioneering facilities such as proton beam therapy centres and acute hospitals equipped with advanced technologies to mental health facilities, community health centres and hospices. The team were recently awarded Property Consultant of the Year at the Health Investor Awards 2018.

Job Responsibilities:

You will be responsible for assisting the Healthcare Director with work winning, managing the operations of projects, planning and quality control. This is a senior position, so you will be a qualified engineer who has had experience of consultancy project management and be looking to join an established and successful team which is managing a large volume of projects.

Work winning

  • Ideally provide a support role in work winning within the sector or to grow into that role

  • Input to pre-qualification and selection of contractors, respond to tender queries, comment on and review tender returns

  • Attend tender/client interviews

Managing Operations

  • Receive brief from Senior Management, be able to carry out the project management and oversee the MEP design and carry out technical control on the specific discipline they are skilled in

  • Be able to manage MEP and multi-disciplinary projects, coordinating input from other AECOM specialisms

  • Prepare reports / technical content of the design information for all stages of a project

  • Prepare specifications, schedules, drawings and any other contract documents developed through the RIBA stages

  • Obtain the necessary information both internally and externally from Architects, Quantity Surveyors and Design Consultants for the design to proceed. Liaise with clients, professional organizations, contractors, suppliers, sub-contractors and other design Identify and meet effectively the requirements and expectations of clients

  • Link into the wider AECOM building engineering healthcare team, undertaking peer reviews and sharing best practice with other offices

Planning

  • Assess staff requirements at each work stage, agreeing these with the PD and team

  • Attend progress, design team and co-ordination meetings

Quality control

  • Attend site inspection meetings

  • Ensure the project work complies with the Project Management Plan and Programme

  • Be competent with engineering calculations and relevant software

  • Understand and implement AECOM’s Safety Health and Environment Policy

Minimum Requirements

  • A good technical understanding of building services within the Healthcare sector, including knowledge of HTMs and HBNs

  • Significant track record of successfully leading design teams on healthcare projects

  • Experience in project and client management within a defined fee budget and program

  • Experience of various procurement routes, including D&B and traditional, as well as healthcare-specific routes such as PFI and Procure 22

  • Experience in identifying and winning new work and building client relationships

  • Ability to speak fluently and communicate effectively in written reports and oral presentations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree qualified and chartered with a relevant engineering body
