AECOM Site Supervisor - Remedial Construction Programs in Calgary, Alberta

Canada - Alberta, Calgary

Job Summary

The Environment team in Calgary is looking for a Site Supervisor to lead remedial construction programs such as environmental drilling investigations and remediation such as excavation and soil handling. The successful candidate will be working within a team of other technicians and junior engineers under the supervision of professional engineers and geologists. The position will involve assisting in all aspects of environmental projects with a focus on field work including subcontractor coordination.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Groundwater Monitoring – purging and sample collection from monitoring wells

  • Drilling – environmental drilling, ground disturbance procedures, soil description and monitoring well installation

  • Excavation – directing subcontractors, analyzing changes in conditions, water management, shoring, communication with project management, critical thinking and problem solving, documenting adherence to standard field procedures.

  • Soil sampling – field screening, soil sample collection procedures

  • Field notes – taking organized and details field notes, recording observations

  • Safety – leading and participating in field meetings, oversight of subcontractors, contribute to and following safe work practices, developing/following/implementing safety plans and a day to day basis, recognizing hazards, confidence in exercising stop work authority.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma

  • 4+ years of related experience

  • Must possess valid and unrestricted driver’s license

  • Experience with/around heavy equipment and drill rig contractors

  • This position includes field work and candidate must be able to walk long distances in rugged terrain outside sometimes in inclement weather conditions

  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs of equipment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma in Environmental Technology/Geological Technology or similar

  • 5 - 15 years of experience is preferred

  • Strong team work, able to listen to requirements and work well with others

  • Excellent attention to detail and a thorough approach to work

  • Strong communication skills

  • Critical thinking and problem solving

  • Possess good writing skills in English

  • Ability to learn new tasks

  • Flexible and hard working

  • Willing to travel within the province/country for work
