Job Description

AECOM is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Reclamation Specialist to join our growing team in Calgary, Alberta .

Working alongside a team of professionals with varied backgrounds and skills, the ideal candidate is comfortable in fast-paced environments. We are seeking a candidate who has a working knowledge of relevant Alberta and federal regulations. The position will involve leading post development projects including but not limited to revegetation plans, reclamation plans, Detailed Site Assessments (DSAs), reclamation certification assessments, environmental monitoring plans, permitting associated with post development projects, and other related scopes of work. The successful candidate will work with an experienced team of scientists and technical specialists in ecology, permitting, and remediation backgrounds to provide environmental support on multi-disciplinary projects in Alberta and across Western Canada.

This will be a full-time role starting as soon as possible.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Leading and overseeing technical aspects of the reclamation projects and portfolios.

  • Creating and reviewing revegetation plans, reclamation plans, DSAs, reclamation certification assessments and applications, and associated permitting.

  • Supporting and authoring regulatory and technical documents that support regulatory applications and permits.

  • Preparing regulatory applications, applicable to provincial and federal legislation, including under the Public Lands Act.

  • Providing technical guidance and mentoring junior and intermediate staff and project managers.

  • Working with a large multi-disciplinary team to execute projects and meet client expectations.

  • Assisting project managers/project coordinators with tasks such as monthly project and budget update summaries, preparation of meeting minutes, scheduling and coordinating field programs.

  • Supporting preparation of proposals and workplans.

  • Adhering to and enforcing corporate Safety, Health and Environment protocols and AECOM’s quality control program.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements :

  • Degree in Environmental Sciences, Biological Sciences or similar and is a registered professional in Alberta with the Alberta Institute of Agrologists or the Alberta Society of Professional Biologists

  • 8+ years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience as an environmental consultant, industry representative, or other.

  • Experience guiding reclamation field activities, completing DSAs in Alberta on forested, agricultural lands (tame pasture, cultivated), native grasslands, and peatland sites and the capability to sign off on DSAs.

  • Experience with reclamation certification process in Alberta including with Alberta OneStop.

Preferred Requirements :

  • 10+ years of experience of demonstrated equivalency of experience as an environmental consultant, industry representative, or other.

  • Possess a practical understanding of provincial regulatory frameworks and familiarity with AER and OneStop.

  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable liaising with clients, colleagues and sub-contractors alike

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Well organized, and strong quality and time management

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $88,000.00 - $130,000.00.
