Position Title Senior Project Manager, P3 Highway-Bridge

Job Summary

AECOM’s Transportation practice is seeking a senior project manager for large and complex multi-disciplinary Highway-Bridge projects in Western Canada. This position can be based in either AECOM’s Edmonton, Calgary, or Burnaby offices.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing large and complex projects for Provincial highway clients

  • Preparing P3/design-build bids/proposals for new work

  • Business development /developing leads aiding in winning new work

  • Preparing, monitoring and forecasting budgets/costs and project schedules

  • Building project teams and managing project staffing (using a disbursed engineering model)

  • Preparing and monitoring scopes of work and methodologies

  • Chairing frequent meetings (internal and client)

  • Overseeing quality review process for submittals

  • Non-project management project, or non-core, work could include some or all of design reviews, scheduling, report writing, presenting

  • Mentor and challenge developing staff so they grow in their careers

  • The candidate must have experience dealing with both clients and technical staff

  • The candidate must have experience interacting at an executive level (both internal and external)

  • The candidate should have a technical foundation in design or construction

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 10+ years of experience managing highway projects

  • Must have been the project manager or design manager for projects with fees greater than $10 million and/or construction values of greater than $250 million

  • Must have P3 / Design-Build project experience (including both Bid and Execution phases)

  • Must have experience managing large and complex multi-disciplinary projects (e.g. road, bridge, drainage, lighting, ITS, environmental, etc.)

  • Eligible for P.Eng. registration with APEGA and APEGBC

  • Must have Highway project management experience (ideally with Alberta Transportation and/or BC MoTI)

  • Must have experience managing projects with fees greater than $10 million and/or construction values of greater than $250 million

  • Must have P3 / Design-Build project experience (including both Bid and Execution phases)

  • Significant experience in project management

  • Experience in budgeting, reporting, scheduling

  • Experience writing and winning significant proposals

  • Experience with business development

  • Experience interacting at an executive level (both internal and external)

  • Must have experience managing multi-disciplinary highway and bridge projects

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English)

  • Proficiency in MS Word and Excel

Preferred Qualifications

  • 15 years of experience with at least 10 years managing highway projects

  • Have or be eligible for registration with APEGA and APEGBC

  • PMP designation

  • MBA designation

  • Foundational experience that might include design and/or site work and/or construction /operations

  • Experience working on projects for Alberta Transportation (AT) or BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MoTI)

  • Value Engineering credentials would be an asset

  • US or overseas experience will be considered, but regional (Western Canada) experience is considered key

  • Experience with various delivery / procurement methods is required including design-build and P3

  • Should have a demonstrable network of client and engineering contacts
