AECOM Transportation is actively seeking a motivated Project Manager / Engineer to join our growing Alberta Rail & Signals team in anticipation of continued growth. As an established leader in the railway industry, our Alberta rail team has over 500 years of collective experience successfully delivering projects for a variety of clients. As part of your role you will not only perform technical Civil Engineering activities, but also be able to identify areas for innovating and developing new service offerings. The right candidate will also be able to mentor and coach our next generation of engineers and technologists, while integrating the knowledge and wisdom of our more seasoned specialists.

To be successful in this role, you will have the following characteristics:
Well-rounded experience including successfully delivering safety, quality, budget, and schedule in both management and technical roles.
Experience managing multidisciplinary projects, in an internal design management or a client-facing project management role.
Able to balance the needs of dozens of projects and stakeholders at any given time with minimal direction.
Able to self-direct and work independently, but also lead and mentor our up-and-coming talent.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Reputation for consistently meeting or exceeding commitments.
Eager to tackle new or unusual challenges, and find solutions through innovation.
Daily tasks may include:
Completing and overseeing technical track and civil designs from concept to construction, including P.Eng. sealing of final documents.
Business development, including writing proposals and estimating level of effort requirements.
Liaising on contractual and financial matters with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
Meeting with clients regarding new opportunities, ongoing projects, or correcting dissatisfaction.
Overseeing field or construction activities, providing quality assurance for clients.
Assisting with internal team management, such as balancing work distribution, pushing for continuous improvement, and building the team further.
This position will be based in our modern Calgary, Quarry Park office.
Bachelors Degree (Civil Engineering preferred).
4+ Years Related Experience.
Hands-On Civil Design Experience (Civil 3D or similar)
10+ years North American freight rail experience.
Proficient in Civil 3D for track and grading design.
