Job Description

AECOM is currently seeking an Overhead Catenary System (OCS) Engineer with specialized skills in rail systems, to join our multidisciplinary Western Canada Systems Engineering team and work on delivering an existing and future portfolio of projects.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Develop detailed OCS designs for public transit rail projects.

  • Produce OCS design deliverables such as layout drawings, profiles, hanger tabulations, erection diagrams, sectioning diagrams, foundation drawings, grounding drawings, and others.

  • Generate design reports for all phases of system design.

  • Produce Issued for Construction drawing and document packages.

  • Participate in the implementation phase of projects, such as Installation, Testing & Commissioning, Cutover, Record Drawings and final reports.

  • Author procurement specifications, performing vendor bid evaluations and selection, and manage vendors until final delivery.

  • Interface with other technical disciplines such as Traction Power System, Comms Systems, S&TCS, Electrical, Mechanical, Structural, Architectural, Trackwork, and Civil; including coordination and design of interfaces, both physical and functional.

  • Support the management of System Interfaces and creation of Interface Control Documents (ICDs).

  • Lead technical interactions with clients, operators, and other major stakeholders.

  • Support the authoring of project plan documents.

  • Support System Engineering and Assurance efforts such as Requirements Management, Verification & Validation, RAM, Safety Assurance, Quality Management, EMI/EMC, and others.

  • Support cost estimates, project schedules and budget forecasts.

  • Perform technical review of other team members’ designs.

  • Participate in project pursuit efforts.

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior personnel as part of team development.

  • Perform condition assessments and feasibility studies for state-of-good-repair projects.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor Degree + 6 years of relevant experience in OCS design for public transit rail projects

  • Professional Engineer designation

  • Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8 years or more of relevant experience.

  • Experience with OCS design in Maintenance and Storage Facilities preferred.

  • Experience with Traction Power System design preferred.

  • Experience in Testing & Commissioning, Cutover, Interface Management and Operations & Maintenance.

  • Working knowledge of codes and standards applicable to rail projects.

  • Accustomed to operating within a multi-disciplinary project structure with responsibility for OCS design.

  • Self-motivated and able to work with limited direct supervision.

  • Able to lead discussions with senior project staff, partners, clients and suppliers.

  • Able to multitask due to concurrent projects.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in order to be client-facing representing the project team.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $120,000.00 - $150,000.00.
