Job Description
AECOM’s Water Resources group in Burnaby, BC is growing! We’ve recently won some exciting projects focused on climate change adaptation, flood resiliency and green infrastructure. This is an exciting opportunity to join this team and help build the future.
We are searching for a Senior level Water Resources Engineer/Project Manager to be based in our Burnaby, BC office. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding and significant experience in Water Resources including flood risk assessment and remediation, project management, design and construction of municipal infrastructure and is familiar with hydraulic modelling and planning principles. She/he will be expected to work successfully within a team environment and be able to communicate effectively with other project team members and customers. He/she will have a high level of initiative, motivation, and displays drive, energy and enthusiasm for getting things done. The successful candidate will be expected to support in the delivery of surface water related studies and infrastructure design to customers mostly within the municipal and provincial sector.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
Mentoring junior staff
Design and project management of surface water related studies and infrastructure design
Prepare documentation for design projects and reports
Prepare construction cost estimates
Preparation of project specifications and contract documents
Perform constructability reviews
Perform contract administration
Perform construction inspections
Additional responsibilities will include client communication and management; proposal preparation; coordination with regulatory agencies, project planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering + 8 years of relevant experience in water resources engineering.
Experience with civil engineering, hydrologic & hydraulic modelling, planning, design construction inspection, contract administration
Experience in managing surface water related projects
Registration as P.Eng with EGBC (or eligible within 6 months)
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience with surface water / drainage conveyance infrastructure in a Municipal environment
Relevant experience in North America
Experience in project management
Experience in proposal writing and job scoping
Working knowledge of blue and green infrastructure: ponds, wetlands, bioswales, raingardens, etc.
Familiarity with Hydraulic Modelling platforms
Excellent written skills needed for technical reports
Proficient with MS Office Suite
Valid BC Class V Driver's License
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors and clients
Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment
