AECOM Senior Rail & Transit Engineer in Burnaby, British Columbia

Job Summary

AECOM's Western Canada Rail & Transit Team is seeking an experienced design engineer. The Senior Rail & Transit Engineer will lead the design development of freight rail and/or LRT projects across the region, and may be based out of any of our Western Canada offices with work from home flexibility.

Job Duties May Include:

Provide engineering, technical, and management guidance to the Rail & Transit Group.

Demonstrate excellent communication skills and willingness to get involved in planning, design, and construction as projects dictate.

Assist Project Managers and take leadership in pursuing a balance of safety, quality, schedule, and budget.

Lead preparation of proposals, design packages, technical specifications, and tender documentation.

Have a hands-on role in developing track and grade designs in Civil 3D.

Chair meetings with clients, contractors, and others for project delivery and business development.

Act as a technical resource for less experienced team members in both office and field settings.

Provide P.Eng. sign-off on designs and reports.

Maintain a strong knowledge of client, industry and regulatory requirements.

Work independently with minimal guidance except for complex and unusual situations.

Minimum Requirements

BSc in Civil Engineering + 8 years of relevant design experience, or equivalent.

P.Eng. designation (or application undergoing review).

Excellent written and verbal communications skills (English).

Preferred Qualifications

10+ years of freight rail and/or LRT experience.

10+ years of civil linear infrastructure design experience.

5+ years of field experience.

Strong understanding of AREMA & Class I Railway standards.

Familiarity with CN, CP, Shortlines, Translink, Calgary Transit, Edmonton Transit, or similar.

Project Management experience.

Willingness for periodic field work and travel.

Bilingual (English primary, French secondary).
