AECOM Burnaby is actively seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to be responsible for the design of projects with the Burnaby, BC office.
We are searching for someone who is resilient and enjoys working within a strong multi-discipline team. This individual must be a licensed Professional Engineer with EGBC (or eligible) and will be responsible for the electrical design on a number of projects within a dynamic and strong team.
Responsibilities include client communication, consultant coordination, design development, drawing review and contract administration. We are looking for an individual with experience in transportation, institutional, industrial, commercial, and municipal projects with broad skills in all phases of project delivery. They must have strong, hands-on technical knowledge. Experience in field review and contract administration is essential.

The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
As an Intermediate to Senior level electrical engineer, may serve as technical advisor for team
Researches, develops, designs, specifies and witnesses the testing of electrical systems, equipment, components and materials, applying principles and techniques of electrical engineering
Organizes and conducts site visits for the purpose of data collection and evaluation of electrical systems, equipment, components and materials for projects with and without well-defined scopes
Develops, designs and specifies equipment, components and materials for all building electrical systems
Directs activities to verify installed electrical systems, equipment, components and materials conform to the requirements of project contract documents
Competent in all conventional aspects of electrical engineering and conducts work requiring judgement in the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard electrical engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
Perform field investigations for incorporation of existing conditions into construction documents.
Work closely and coordinate with owners, in-house and/or external architects, interior designers, engineering disciplines, and sub-consultants.
Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high-quality cost effective work by others.
Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
Uses expertise in all steps of completing electrical discipline component of PS&E package.
Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
Prepares technical specification sections.
Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
Meet with clients to discuss potential new work and/or review project requirements
Supervise and mentor within a team environment
Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers, designers and technical staff; provide direction to help others meet objectives
Assist in the development of standard design details and specifications as needed
Communicate with construction team to provide information and solve problems

Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering + 6 years of relevant experience in either institutional, commercial, light industrial or transportation-related building projects or a combination thereof.
P.Eng registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC or eligible.
Valid Driving license
8 plus years of experience in the design and specification of electrical engineering.
Proficiency with designing, managing, and construction supervision of new construction and renovation projects.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal): articulate, assertive and confident. Proficient report writing abilities and strong presentation skills are a must.
Demonstrated abilities in client management. Work on multiple projects, with clients of varying needs, and possess the ability to retain and grow such relationships.
A team player with the ability to nurture and thrive in a collaborate work environment.
Able to work independently, showing initiative, and creative thinking.
Experience with BIM
Experience with sustainable design.
Experience with commissioning of building electrical systems
Exceptional technical knowledge of building construction and the BC Building Code
High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning
Candidate must be dedicated to working hard with an all-hands-on-deck attitude towards completing the work efficiently and accurately
Strong business acumen and people manager skills are an asset
