Job Summary

AECOM is currently seeking an Impact Assessment /Permitting Lead to join our dynamic team of professionals within our Environment Business Line in the Burnaby, BC office.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading large and complex permitting projects – including overseeing the work of environmental specialists, regulatory agency consultation and public and Indigenous engagement;

  • Project Management and managing client relationships in power, mining, oil and gas, infrastructure or government market sectors;

  • Providing technical expertise relating to impact assessment and permitting including obtaining regulatory approvals and Federal, Provincial and Municipal permits

  • Advising project managers and clients on regulatory requirements and strategies associated with both provincial and federal applications

  • Business development activities include seeking out project opportunities with existing and new clients

  • Proposal and fee/schedule development

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in related field required

  • 15+ years of environmental planning, aquatic or terrestrial ecology experience, in particular as it relates to infrastructure or resource sector projects

  • High level of knowledge of BC regulatory environment

  • Comfortable dealing directly with clients, connected to business and professional networks

  • Experience in project management, including managing scope, schedule and budget

  • Experience in obtaining permits, licenses, and approvals from local, provincial, and federal authorities in a timely and cost-effective manner

  • Experience in working with Indigenous communities

  • Ability to coordinate technical professionals

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Critical thinker with good writing skills

  • Experience with proposal writing and fee estimate preparations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-graduate qualifications

  • Professional Designation is a bonus (RP.Bio., P.Ag., P.Geo, EP etc)

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)

  • Fluency in written and spoken French is an asset
