Job Summary

AECOM is seeking an Electrical Engineering to be based in Burnaby, BC.

This position is expected to begin in May 2022.

The position responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team to design electrical and/or control systems primarily for water treatment and wastewater treatment facilities.

  • Participate in design and progress meetings.

  • Develop detailed design documents including; schematics, single lines, process and instrument drawings, motor control schematics, layouts, and installation details for electrical & controls equipment

  • Select specific equipment for power distribution, lighting, building systems, control system components, and process automation equipment.

  • Develop power distribution system equipment lists

  • Develop control system input/output index

  • Develop control system instrument index

  • Prepare under senior engineers supervision equipment specifications and data sheets

  • Assist in construction inspection, equipment commissioning, and troubleshooting

Minimum Requirements

  • Diploma/Certificate plus 2 years of experience OR High School/GED plus 4 years of experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering degree with a specialization in either power or instrumentation, control systems, and system automation

  • Experience with electrical motor control circuits

  • Experience with AutoCAD drafting

  • Ideal position for a recent graduate or EIT with under two years experience

  • Knowledge of power distribution basics, base training in low voltage systems and motor controls

  • Knowledge of Communications Standards (Ethernet, Modbus, IEC 61850, etc.) and/or Fieldbuses (RS345, Profibus, Foundation Fieldbus)

  • Familiarity with programmable logic controllers and distributed control systems (basic knowledge, programming will be consider as bonus)

  • Familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code

  • Knowledge of medium and low voltage electrical distribution technology
