Job Summary

Due to continued growth in the British Columbia water infrastructure business, AECOM is expanding career opportunities for technical staff in various positions. The successful candidate for this opportunity will have formal training and an understanding of civil engineering technology, CAD, and have some proven experience in the design of municipal infrastructure. She/he will be expected to work within a team environment and be able to communicate effectively with other project team members and customers. He/she will have a high level of initiative, motivation, and displays drive, energy and enthusiasm for getting things done.

The successful candidate will support the delivery of infrastructure to customers primarily within the municipal water, wastewater and stormwater sector by performing some or all of the activities listed below:

  • Design for municipal infrastructure using AutoCAD and Civil 3D

  • Working on complex data sets in conjunction with other CAD and GIS technical staff

  • Oversite of construction to ensure overall design integrity

  • Prepare civil design drawings and design calculations

  • Prepare documentation for design projects and reports

  • Undertake quality control procedures

  • Assures that engineering related issues are promptly relayed to the Project Manager for action and follows up to assure timeliness of resolution efforts

Minimum Requirements

  • 2+ years of related experience in municipal civil engineering design and CAD

  • Design experience in surface grading, water and sewer pipe networks and detail design

  • Experience working with AutoCAD Version 16 and Civil 3D

  • Field work experience, preferably in municipal construction

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology (or equivalent)

  • Proficient with MS Office Suite

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors and clients

  • Comfortable working in a multi-disciplinary environment

  • Class V driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Construction inspection experience

  • Certification in AScT as a member of the Applied Science Technologists & Technicians of British Columbia

  • Good time management skills

  • Working knowledge of databases, GIS and hydraulic modeling software would be an additional asset.

  • MMCD Contract Administration certification is an advantage
