AECOM CAD/BIM Manager in Burnaby, British Columbia

Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a BIM and CAD group leader for immediate employment based in our Burnaby, BC office.

The successful candidate will have an understanding and significant experience in civil engineering and technology principles and is very familiar with the design and construction of municipal infrastructure. She/he will be expected to work successfully within a team environment and be able to communicate effectively with other project team members and customers. He/she will have a high level of initiative, motivation, and displays drive and enthusiasm for getting things done. The successful candidate will be expected to support in the delivery of infrastructure to customers mostly within the municipal water, wastewater and storm water sector and should have a working knowledge of water / wastewater conveyance infrastructure in a Municipal environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Setup & implement Digital twin processes and lead the implementation of ISO19650 standards.

  • Perform various Building Information Models (BIM) tasks such as reviewing and managing project electronic model files, drawings, and documentation.

  • Audit model files ensuring that they meet AECOM’s and project standards and project's BIM Goals.

  • Develop a team that monitors and coordinates project designs interfaces, working with project partners and third parties in the program 3D environment to resolve spatial and chronology coordination issues.

  • Monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing the performance of the models.

  • Manage conveyance infrastructure CAD group (of approximately 8 staff) including workload planning, mentorship and performance management

  • Act in a leadership capacity to assist and support the discipline technical team for both design and production.

  • Assist in hiring, training , and retention of AECOM BIM and CAD Technologists.

  • Proactively identifying potential coordination issues and act as a subject matter expert for design software products & BIM related issues while maintaining best practices.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in a relevant discipline: engineering, architecture + 8 years experience OR Technical Diploma + 10 years of experience

  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience

  • 6+ years of related experience with civil engineering, design and inspection

  • 6+ years experience working with AutoCAD and Civil 3D

  • Valid BC Class V Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ideally 12+ years of experience in multi-discipline infrastructural and building / civil engineering field with working experience in BIM technology lead role including production and coordination.

  • Strong knowledge of Digital Twin implementation & ISO 19650.

  • Able to support design authoring software such as: Bentley’s Microstation; OpenRoads; Autodesk’s Civil 3D; Revit and Navisworks.

  • Able to work with Dynamo & Infraworks is an asset.

  • Strong command of BIM360 & ProjectWise for project setup.

  • Knowledgeable with Microsoft Teams; SharePoint & BlueBeam tools.

  • Familiarity with inter-operability between discipline-specific software programs, showing awareness of the differences between BIM for building and civil.

  • Excellent communication skills for the team-based working environment and for mentoring others about best practices in BIM.

  • Excellent team leadership to lead/support a BIM team throughout the design and production.

  • Excellent planning and organization skills required for fast-paced projects.
